From humble origins as a LinkedIn group, the AP Forum has grown to over 31,000 members on the LinkedIn AP Forum. We listened to the members of this group who constantly stated they wanted something more substantial, so we created the APA.

Moving forward we will be called the Accounts Payable Association (or the APA for short) and everything you will need to know will be provided here on this website.

The Association has been created by a number of leading AP professionals (including Jamie Radford our CEO); they have a wealth of experience (over fifty years) within AP functions organisations of all sizes and in many industries both in the UK and around the world.

The Accounts Payable Association is a UK based organisation representing the interests of the estimated minimum two hundred and fifty thousand professionals working in the AP industry in the UK alone. The APA is committed to the professional advancement of individuals within the Accounts Payable discipline and also closely related financial roles.

The APA acts as a support group where like-minded AP professionals can obtain information on new technologies, procedures, and trends whilst obtaining critical benchmarking statistics on other organisations.

The overall aim of the APA is to provide members with an abundance of support, tools, data and information that they need in their day to day work whilst also helping to plan their career in the “World of Accounts Payable”.

We aim to change the all too often perception that AP is a dead-end job with minimal prospects – this is just untrue. Accounts Payable is vital to businesses; which can’t function without the efficient payment of bills on time. AP functions need suitably qualified professionals, who are highly motivated, valued by their organisation and also rewarded for the valuable work they do.

Jamie is a qualified Chartered Procurement specialist, holding the (MCIPS) Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply qualification. With over 25 years’ experience in corporate finance functions; Jamie saw a need for a members association specifically for Accounts Payable professionals – so set up the APA. This follows Jamie’s successful management of the LinkedIn Group – The AP Forum.

Jamie’s past roles have included:

  • Head of Accounts Payable at AT&T EMEA
  • Head of Procurement and Payables for Finning/CAT and
  • Managing a successful Finance Consultancy business specialising in Accounts Payable and Procurement

Steve Hunt joins the APA as Commercial Director. Steve has over thirty years of extensive finance and consultancy (Accounts Payable/P2P/Treasury) expertise to bring to the benefit of the APA. Steve has been a Bank Manager and EMEA Treasury Manager in previous roles.
Gareth JonesAssociates Support At The APA
Gareth has over 14 years’ experience in payments and procurement across many industries in public and private sector and is particularly expert in P2P. Gareth joins the APA in a role of Associates Support and has a wealth of experience to bring to the role.
Sam Hitchen Head Of Careers At The APA
Sam is head of AP Careers and his role is to speacialise in sourcing the best talent from the AP world for our clients. With a team of Recruitment Consultants with over 25 years combined experience and ongoing relationships with our candidates who are members of the AP Association, Sam offers much more than a traditional high street recruitment agency. As a membership based organisation, we know that our members and candidates have a strong interest in the AP world and in many cases have completed the APA Technician or Managers certification. As a result of all of this, we are the No.1 Account Payable recruitment partner for our clients across the UK.
Jeff HuntMembership Co-Ordinator At The APA
Jeff is the newest member of the team and has an extensive knowledge in running a social media enterprise. Jeff handles all membership enquries. He also helps with technical support and overseeing of our e-learning platform. Any queries or issues regarding membership, events or our APA courses will go through to him.
